On June 29th, nearly 50 pupils who have been involved since 2022 in producing the life sized non-flying reconstitution of the legendary Laté28 were on-site at L’Envol des Pionniers to present the progress in their work over the last months. They presented several finalized éléments : the structural design details required for assembly of the fuselage (Lycée de la Découverte, Decazeville), the prototype of the n°9 couple of the fuselage (Lycée Jean Dupuy, Tarbes) or a prototype of the propellor (Lycée Vincent Auriol, Revel).
This Laté28 project, initiated by Toulouse Métropole, is overseen by L’Envol des Pionniers in partnership with the Academy of Toulouse and the Laté 28 association, with support from the Cercle des machines volantes (Circle of flying machines) and in partnership with MGEN and Banque Populaire Occitane. It involves 13 professional and technical high schools in Occitanie for 5 years. It is a genuine bridge between the pioneers of yesterday and today’s generation of new pioneers. This exceptional initiative is an opportunity for students to dive into the history of aviation and to put into practice their technical skills and creativity.
