Over 300 experts working in astronomy mediation and communication from over fifty countries met from June 24th to 28th at the Cité de l’espace and remotely to take part in the CAP24 international convention, organized by the International Astronomy Union (UAI). Their goal? To share ideas about best practices, resources and tools to bring the scientific community and the general public together on issues related to astronomy. This rich and diverse event, the 11th of its kind, featured workshops, demonstrations and ten world class conferences including one given by the astronomer and engineer, Maram Kairé, a rising star in the world of astronomy, who fascinated his audience describing how astronomy has transformed Senegal, along with a talk given by Olivier Berné, research director at the CNRS at the research institute in astrophysics and planetology of Toulouse, who fascinated his peers with his discussion of the power of images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). These conferences, which were also broadcast on line, brought together international and local experts for fruitful, inspiring exchanges.
